Concert Marathon...

Get Behind Me, Satan / Vertigo, and Vertigo

So I am finally updating this! And life is back to normal. Actually…not really. It is not normal at all, and it feels like it will never be.

Life at this moment feels unreal, fragmented, without a meaning. I feel lost, confused, and with a horrible need to find a purpose to live.

It feels O.K. to be a college graduate. What I could not wait to be over with, now I am regretting I don’t have to do it any longer. But I guess that is normal. I am quite sure that is normal. At least that is what I hear from other people.

But now I need to find responsibilities in a way I don’t know how. I need to find a meaning in a place I don’t know where it is. Life is supposed to be real now, but it doesn’t feel like it. I guess it is the begging of a new stage of my life that I am not used to, and that gives this feeling of “what the hell is going on with me?”

But, if I haven’t found a job, neither figured out what I am going to study next, one thing is for sure: I have been having some fun lately. So I my back to Brazil for only 2 weeks and a half and I have already gone to 3 different clubs, a couple of parties, the White Stripes concert, and some new restaurants.

The White Stripes concert was great! But nothing compared to the U2 concert!!

Well, the case is that I still don’t know most of the songs of the new CD of the band! There is the new single, but I don’t even know what it is called. I can only say that I like it… a lot.

Thank God they played my favorites from “elephant”, the only album I own from the duel. Seven Nation Army and I Just Don’t Know What to Do With Myself where there! And in the encore, which is even better!! Only one missing request: I Fell in Love With a Girl! The song that introduced me to the band was not on the set list: shame on them!

Anyways… the amazing thing, and what makes your jaw drop in a show like this, is the fact the band can rock the house with only two people on stage! Nothing new here, everyone that saw the show made the same comment! I was truly impressed!

Oh… but get real… real real! Nothing beats U2! On the eve of the opening for the European Leg in Brussels, I haven’t yet commented on the 2 concerts I attended!

So here we go, starting with Bono’s birthday and second night of recording for the Vertigo Tour: Chicago, May 10! Simply great! And my favorite surprise: Party Girl! One my favorites from the band and completely unexpected, since I did not notice the song in the set list from the previous shows (well, except for the one in the night before, which was the first night of the DVD recording!) Great, simply great!

Some moments that brought tears to my eyes: Electric Co., One, Running to Stand Still! Oh, not to mention Bono screaming “Africa, Africa, Africa”, before starting Where the Streets Have no Name.

And here is the set list of the Chicago show:

Main Set: City of Blinding Lights, Vertigo - Stories for Boys, Elevation, The Electric Co., An Cat Dubh - Into the Heart, Beautiful Day, New Year's Day, Miracle Drug, Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own, Love and Peace or Else, Sunday Bloody Sunday, Bullet the Blue Sky - When Johnny Comes Marching Home, Running to Stand Still, Pride, Where the Streets Have No Name, One Encore(s): Zoo Station, The Fly, Mysterious Ways, Party Girl, All Because of You, Original of the Species, Vertigo

Ok… my moment to cry (of desperation) in this concert: They did not finish with 40…I can’t believe that. They have been doing that all along, and out of a sudden they decide to do a reprise right on the in show I went to see? Vertigo was played twice, the second time being much, much more energetic. I am guessing they were repeating songs so they can get the best versions to be on the DVD. But the Vertigo Tour DVD will not be the same without 40. I guess they will get it from the night before!

But not all is sadness. Since I am a very luck fan, my hopes were high for the Philadelphia concert (May 14). And I was expecting 40 and praying for “Bad”.

And “40” happened…. And I was screaming and singing “How long… to sing this song??” for about 5 minutes (or at least it felt like it, but I actually think it was about a minute or two).

Unfortunately “Bad” was not played. No worries, since I heard that live in the show in São Paulo in 98!!!

And here is the set list for Philly:

Main Set: City of Blinding Lights, Vertigo, Elevation, The Electric Co., An Cat Dubh - Into the Heart, Beautiful Day, Miracle Drug, Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own, Love and Peace or Else, Sunday Bloody Sunday, Bullet the Blue Sky - When Johnny Comes Marching Home, Running to Stand Still, Pride, Where the Streets Have No Name, One Encore(s): Zoo Station, The Fly, Mysterious Ways, All Because of You, Yahweh, 40

Certainly two of the highest moments of my life! I am thrilled!

Rain, River, Canoe, Camp, and Bunny Rabbit!

tied canoes

How would you like to set off for a weekend at the James river and be welcomed by rain after rain? Yeah, what a great weekend it was! You know what, even with all the rain, canoeing was fun this time. (oh, by the way, this picture is not at the James...I got it from someone's flickr site... the author was FDB99, and this is Yucon River, in Canada!)

So, how was eastern weekend for everyone? After spending the night at the James River State Park, i walked out of the tent and was amazed to know that the eastern bunny had passed through our camp site. Who would think such things would really happen? We had a great eastern egg hunt (that tricky easten bunny... why does he have to hide all the eggs?) and we were back at the river.

For those that don't knowit, canoes are not really my thing. I had bad experiences with them is the past, but i did never give up. And i will tell ya, this time it was great!!

Oh..and I just wanted to put this out there...I can't wait to go to the U2's concert. Yeah baby, Chicago, May 10, and Philadelphia, May 14!!!

(the tour started on Monday in San Diego, that is why this came to my mind right now. Besides, as I write, I am listening to that very San Diego show...some crazy dude put it online...and I only have to thank him (even though I think that is ilegal... I do not think he could have taped and published that online..well...this is only rasing my expectations to tell you the truth).

Gotta run

Smile... It is time to celebrate

Mardi Gras

Ok, so I finaly decided to make a new blog. I want to start it fresh, and keep it neat and clean. My poor old blog is abandoned. You probably already know I am not too good with this blogging thing. I never update it, and when I do, usually a month (or more) have passed since my last post.

But let's hope things are going to be different with this blog! I decided to change to blogger because I can link it to my flickr. If you know me, you probably know that I am a lot better about photo-blogging, than actually writing long texts with my thoughts. So, nothing better than make this blog a photo related blog!

But wait, I am not going to write that on stone. That is the idea: a junction of photo-blogging and real blogging.
But my life is ramdom, and hopefully this blog will be able adapt to changes.

I know my multiply can also work in the same manner, but it doesn't hurt to try something new. I actually really enjoy fotologging, but fotolog has been a pain in the ass lately. Nothing works there. Pictures take forever to upload, and sometimes they do not upload at all. I am not going to forget about it though. You can still check my fotolog quite frequently. I am actually hoping to update that more often that i will update this.

So, please, sit back and enjoy. Have a few drinks too, because it is time to celebrate!! Vitor's new blog is finally up!
